DSL Tops, but Fiber Growing

dsl-gateways.jpgHere’s an interesting tidbit from Ars Technica. DSL is the top broadband access technology in the world with 185 million subscribers (65.7%) versus the 62 million subscribers (22.3%) who use cable modems. Top honors for technology growth however go to fiber optic connections. Growing faster than both DSL and cable, fiber broadband connections now account for just over 10% of the market.

Obviously the US isn’t leading the fiber charge. I wonder what a world map of broadband speeds would look like.
