Telia Stofa Takes Motorola Hybrid Set-Tops

Usually network operators use QAM set-tops or IP set-tops, but Verizon proved that a little of both isn’t a bad thing either. Today, Motorola announced that Telia Stofa too is deploying hybrid set-tops from Motorola. (Telia Stofa is a business unit of Telia Sonera in Denmark.) Like Verizon, Telia Stofa will use an IP return path to communicate to the headend when a subscriber orders on-demand services, however unlike Verizon, Telia Stofa’s system will actually deliver on-demand content via the cable architecture. Or at least, that’s how I understand it.

Unlike Verizon too, the set-tops for Telia Stofa use Motorola’s own KreaTV software, which appears now to be quite well-deployed throughout Telia Sonera systems.
